Division 16 is in the 8
Western Rivers District of the U.S. Coast Guard. Located in the Great State of Oklahoma, Division 16 has many lakes and rivers, such as the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation system, waterway to the world, to utilize for training and to monitor for assistance to local, state, and federal agencies.
Oklahoma has many nationally renown lakes, such as Lake Tenkiller and Grand Lake in the North Eastern part of the state, Lake Texoma along the Southern, Red River border between Oklahoma and Texas, and the Eufaula reservoir along I-40. Oklahoma City alone has 3 large lakes; Lake Stanley Draper, Lake Overholser, and Lake Hefner, all within the city limits, and the Canadian River system. The Canadian River (Some sections in the Oklahoma City area renamed the "Oklahoma River") has undergone a major construction project to change it from a moderate stream under normal conditions to a navigable waterway with a locking system to travel from the West to the East and downtown Oklahoma City.
It is plain to see that there is a lot of recreational water in Oklahoma, for a state with no coast line. With so much usable acreage of water, there is a great need in Oklahoma for boater and water safety education.

| Did you know that Oklahoma actually has a sea port that is reachable from anywhere
in the world? It is true! The port of Catoosa is just outside Tulsa, Oklahoma on the
Arkansas River and is one of the largest, most inland river-ports in the United States!
Located at the head of navigation for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System in Northeast Oklahoma, the Tulsa Port of Catoosa offers year round, ice-free barge service with river flow levels controlled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It has worldwide access capabilities, so products can travel easily and efficiently from America's heartland to the rest of the globe.
